Dear Upper Grand ETFO Members,
Today we celebrate International Women’s Day 2016. This is a chance to honour the achievements of women and to celebrate women’s contribution in society. As unionists, it is also a time when we try to work towards making our corner of the world a better place for our sisters.
This year the focus of the Ontario Federation of Labour is raising awareness of the gender based wage gap in Ontario. At the current rate of wage reform, it will take 100 years to erase the wage inequity that currently exists. That is too long! You can get more information at www.ofl.ca
Upper Grand ETFO is celebrating International Women’s Day with two events hosted by your Status of Women Committee. On May 6, women are invited to attend our Women’s Day at the Arboretum in Guelph. Please check the flyer for registration details.
If you are a woman who is interested in perusing further leadership within ETFO, or are interested in exploring personal and societal growth — all while networking with colleagues in a setting away from home; then you may wish to participate in Women in Action. Part 1 is for new participants and Part 2 is for those that have already completed Part 1 (you will know who you are).
If you do none of the above — please honour and celebrate each other!
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
On behalf of Status of Women Chair, Jennifer Hesch, we are sending you virtual roses!
